What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is an injectable biostimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is FDA-approved. This key ingredient aids in collagen stimulation and production, which also improves the tone and texture of your skin. When volume is restored, skin elasticity improves, resulting in fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Facial hollows are also minimized, leaving you looking rested and more youthful.

The most commonly treated area is the lower face, including:

• Smile lines

• Marionette lines

• Hollow temples

• Chin wrinkles

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Volume loss in the cheeks

• Jawline

Results After Sculptra®

Results after Sculptra® are natural and gradual, leading to radiant skin that has reduced visible signs of aging. Sculptra treatments last 2 years+. Results of your initial series of treatments can be maintained by occasional touch-ups/treatments on an as-needed basis.

Sculptra® Aesthetic Important Reminders:

• The treated area(s) need to be massaged 3x/day for 3 minutes for 3 days.

• No dental work or vaccinations two weeks before your appointment.

• If you are taking or have recently taken an anti-biotic, your course must be completely finished two weeks before your appointment.  

• To minimize the possibility of bruising, 10-14 days before treatment, stop using the following medications or supplements (which thin the blood): aspirin, ibuprofen (i.e., Advil®, Aleve®), Omega 3’s, flax seed oil, ginko, ginseng, garlic, vitamin E, turmeric, curcumin.

• You may take Tylenol® if you experience any discomfort.

• Avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours after your appointment

After receiving Sculptra® Aesthetic:

• No travel for 24 hours after your appointment

• No airline travel for 24 hours

• No facials or massages for two weeks

• A 6-week follow-up is requested for all patients, or if you are an established patient and are treating a new area.

• Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen production.

• A typical course of treatment consists of 2-3 treatments, approximately 6 weeks apart.

• It is normal to experience some swelling and possible bruising. The treated area can also feel sore. Rest assured that this will settle.

• The use of arnica can diminish pain and swelling.
